"Perelesnyk is a demonic creature, a character of Ukrainian mythology, who visits women in the form of a falling star. It is embodied in the image of deceased relatives and loved ones. Perelesnyk came to those women who were longing for the deceased (in some areas of Ukraine it was believed that Perelesnyk is, in fact, the spirit of a deceased loved one, whom a person misses).Being a "twin" of a deceased loved one, Perelesnyk could marry a woman."
