The full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has tragically impacted millions, with children being among the most vulnerable. Many have been injured, displaced, and left without homes, in desperate need of humanitarian support. Hundreds of schools have been destroyed, and education for all children has been severely disrupted.  These children have been robbed of their one precious childhood.

Kids and Art for Ukraine is a charitable project launched in the summer of 2022 in response to the ongoing war.  Our mission is to support children affected by the conflict by providing humanitarian aid, medical assistance, and educational resources, while offering psychological and therapeutic relief from the harsh realities of war.  The idea behind the project is simple but powerful: to help children from art schools in Ukraine continue their education and express themselves through painting, singing, playing instruments, and dancing. Art not only offers mental health benefits but also provides a vital escape from the daily horrors of war.

Key Stages

Kids and Art for Ukraine has gone through several key stages since its inception.  The initial pilot stage saw the first collection of paintings arrive in London in November 2022. The overwhelming success of the pilot inspired us to launch our first major campaign - Unbreakable Children. Over 200 paintings were transported from Ukraine, and the exhibition opened in January 2023 at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Headquarters in London.

Building on the success of the exhibitions and the strong desire from Ukrainian schools to continue, we entered the second and current stage - United for Ukraine, which launched in September 2024 at the EBRD Headquarters in London and saw over 100 new paintings arrive in the UK.

Our Team
The Kids and Art for Ukraine project is run by the SECD Charity Fund and supported by the Community Initiative Program of the  EBRD. Our dedicated team of three individuals, based in London, works directly with schools in Ukraine, maintaining close, ongoing communication to better understand and meet their needs.  We organise exhibitions and showcase children’s art both in London and internationally, actively promoting the program and inviting everyone to explore this website and get involved.  All donations are matched by the EBRD, amplifying the impact of every contribution.

Our Impact

To date, we have been able to support all the schools involved in our program. We have provided art education materials, essential supplies, electric generators, power banks, medical kits and LED lights, helping them navigate the harsh Ukrainian winters. So far, we have engaged over 500 young artists and supported more than 40 educational centers and art schools across Ukraine.  As part of our commitment to medical support, we have also supplied Kyiv’s Regional Children’s Hospital with much-needed medical equipment, benefiting hundreds of children, many of whom have been displaced from eastern Ukraine.  For more details on our efforts, please visit the "How We Help" section.

Your Opportunity to Make a Difference

We invite you to browse through our collection of paintings online, each piece telling the unique story of the children of Ukraine.  These artworks are not just expressions of creativity; they are symbols of resilience and hope. If you are interested in helping us organize new exhibitions or have ideas on how we can showcase these talented young artists, we would love to hear from you! Your support can make a significant difference in bringing these children's stories to a wider audience. Please get in touch with us to explore collaboration opportunities and be part of this meaningful journey.
